About Us

GurubhyO nama:

Samskaaram enables a person to live a vedic life.   Vedic life is a holistic life.  Completeness in life can happen only if we nurture mind, body and soul together. Samskaaraas are those invaluable secrets embedded in the Vedas which, our ancestors have preserved, due to their constant and untiring efforts, in not only preaching them but also practicing them relentlessly.

What are Samskaaras?

Samskaaraas  are the vedic rites and rituals prescribed  for a man to attain union with the Lord.  Sam(s)=well, kaara =making. So Samskaara means making something good, refining or purifying. The rich samskaaras mentioned in the dharmashaastraas are presecribed for a man's life from birth to death. So they are our friends who travel with us.

Why should we follow Samskaaras?

The broad objectives of following Samskaaras as follows:-

  • For obtaining inner purity and acquiring noble qualities.
  • A practical training for making people virtuous.
  • To enable younger generations to imbibe pure thoughts.
  • To loosen the bondage of karma.
  • To seek universal well-being.

What can you expect of this web site?

  • Creating a resource bank regarding all Samskaaraas and collecting right information about observance of Samskaaras from the revered people who are following them and who can advise us.
  • While samskaaras vary according to sub-sects, languages and sampradhayams, this site is an attempt to bring out those practices without distorting its values, for practice in day to day life.
  • An interactive platform both for Vedic Scholars and the aspirants as well, catering to their specific needs

How we propose to achieve the above goals?

  • By contacting Acharyaas, Pandits, Purohits, Priests, Vaidhikaas, Dheekshitars, Swamijis, Gurus, Muttheads and other knowledgeable and distinguished personalities to help us create a resource bank.
  • By providing online audio video broadcast  for day to day rituals according to respective sampradhayas, with the  help of the scholars.
  • Providing  a customized calendar of rituals to be performed by the aasthikas.
  • Providing an user interface platform to cater to specific questions relating to Samskaaras.
  • Bringing out  articles on samskaaras from scholars for indepth reading.
  • Setting up an Information window on  relatedprogrammes in various cities.
  • Providing contact details of available Pandits in your place.

Welcome Shri Anantakrishnan,

Yes. The tamil mantras are already there. Kindly fill your profile fully and also edit sankalpam tab in my pitru tarpanam section.

If you select "All 96 sankalpas", you will be able to generate a pdf for all 96 tarpanas ina year which includes mahalaya paksha.

And if you select mahaalaya tarpanam procedure, you will get a procedure file with your ancestors name filled in.

Please try and let us know if you face any issue.

[quote name="PRASANNA"]Namaskaram,
In my abhivadanam, three results are shown. But, my abhivadanam is not listed. Mine is Kāshyapa — Avatsāra — Naidhruva thriyarisheya pravaram. I couldnt find it there. Can you pls. clarify.
Pranams.
Prasanna.

Namskaarams Shri Prasanna,
From your pravara it seems you belong to "naidhruva kAshyapa gOtram". So kindly select your gotra field in your profile as naidhruva kashyapa gotram and update it. Then go into "My abhivAdanam". You will find your abhivAdanam.

You may want to know why.
Avatsara and Asita were 2 sons of Sage Kashyapa, Two sons of Avatsara were Nidhruva and Rebha. And sage Asita had a son named Shandila. So there are many gotra pravaras under Kashyapa line and yours is naidhruva kAshyapa gOtram.

Swamin, Great job. However, when we select language Tamil & select My sandhyaavandanam or Upaakarma or Abhivadanam, except the introduction, subsequent practice instructions are appearing only in English & sanskrit. If you provide in Tamil & Sankrit it would be good.

Dear Shri Venkatesan,
Thank you for bringing it to our notice. Sorry that we could not help you immediately. We shall look into it now, correct it and keep you posted
